Kyushu University School of Engineering
Fukuoka, Fukuoka
Founded in 1911 as one of Japan's seven Imperial Universities, Kyushu University has established itself as a leader in education and research not just in Japan but throughout Asia. It comprises 12 undergraduate schools, 21 graduate schools, and one university hospital.
As a member of the exclusive RU1 (consortium consisting of the top 11 Japanese research universities), the university’s research and educational skills have been highly acclaimed worldwide. The university’s new flagship, “Ito Campus,” is the heart of an academic research city built on cooperation with government and industry.
Kyushu University has become famous for its unwavering commitment to internationalization from an early phase in its more than hundred-year history. It is home to nearly 19,000 students, from some 90 countries, with over 2,000 academic faculty members. In addition to running over 60 English-taught degree programs, we have, among other things, continuously strengthened our support apparatus for our international population and initiated projects with global partners.
Kyushu University was selected as one of 13 universities of the Global 30 Project by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). In October 2010, the university established the first international undergraduate programs in the School of Engineering and School of Agriculture among these top research universities in Japan. Since then, the university has offered high-quality education in a small, interactive class environment and research opportunities in English with leading scientists at our advanced research facilities. The university also offers a generous financial aid package exclusively to students in international undergraduate programs.
