Kyoto Prefectural University has a history of more than 120 years, originating from Kyoto Prefectural Simple Agricultural School and Kyoto Prefectural College for Women. Kyoto Prefectural University has three faculties (Literature, Public Policy, and Life and Environment) and 3 graduate schools, and together with Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, operates as a Kyoto Prefectural Public University Corporation with one corporation and two universities.
